How to help your child to learn to read and do math

It’s important to remember that Children love to lean and they will do it happily so it should be no problem to get them to learn to read and do math. So here are a few tips I have found that can help you to get your child to lean without too much problems,
But why should I teach my child to read and do math they are only a toddler and they will lean at school
Yes children will learn reading skills in school, but often they come to associate reading with work, not pleasure. As a result, they lose their desire to read. And it is that desire, the curiosity and interest that is the cornerstone to using reading and related skills successfully.
By far the most effective way to encourage your children to love books and reading is to read aloud to them, and the earlier you start, the better. Even a baby of a few months can see pictures, listen to your voice, and turn cardboard pages.

You may be surprised to find that a well-written children's book is often as big a delight to you as it is to the kids. Reading material comes in many different shapes and sizes, some of which may be more accessible to a new reader. Video games, magazines, and comic books all provide opportunities for reading practice for example you could turning on the closed captioning on your television or to illustrate the practical side of reading, have your child help you with the grocery list, or leave reminder notes for your child to discover throughout the day.
Make time together a special time when you hold your kids and share the pleasure of a story without the distractions of TV or telephones. And don't stop taking the time to read aloud once your children have learned to read for themselves. At this stage, encourage them to read to you some of the time. This shared enjoyment will continue to strengthen your children's interest and appreciation
As you read with your children, keep them involved by asking questions about the story, and let them fill in the blanks. You can also create activities related to the stories you're reading
Don’t worry if your child makes a mistake when they read you can only lean when they make mistakes just sound it out together and then move onto the next word

Reading doesn't have to stop when you put the book down. Talk to your child about books you've read and books you think he or she might enjoy. Point out similarities between everyday events and stories you have recently read.
Reading should be a choice, not a chore. Make sure there are a variety of books, magazines, and other materials available for your child to choose from, wherever your child may be. Let your child's interests guide his or her reading choices. While it's fine to make suggestions, don't force your conceptions of what your child should be reading onto your child. And, keep an eye on the reading level of the books your children choose. Let them stretch to the best of their ability, but be ready to help if they get discouraged.
Remember it’s important to learn to read so that if they like comics then it is encouraging them to read therefore  by buying more they will read more .

Doing math is another thing which parents find it difficult to teach their children but we use math every day without thinking about it. Just as you encourage your early reader to look for familiar letters, ask your child to watch for math, regarding math as highly as you do reading. “Every parent knows that it’s a good idea to read to your child every night, but they should also realize the importance of talking about mathematical situations with children every day ,” says Mahoney.
Make math real and meaningful is important we are surrounded by real problems in the way that we use money, measurements and time you could point this out to your child the same way you do with words
With so many facts and figures to memorize and apply to math problems, children learn early that math is something that requires work. That doesn’t mean that it can’t be fun; keep the pleasure in math by playing games with your children. Many games, even the ones adults play, rely on math. With countless websites, computer games and phone apps, parents have endless options, but don’t forget about the non digital games you loved as a child. The classics that require manipulating cards and game pieces,

Here an idea when you are making a drink for yourself or the family you use math so you can involve your child by getting them to count how many glasses are needed for (example if you need 4 glasses them you can say 2+2=4 or 3+1 = 4 ) or how many spoons of sugar  you need and how to dived them ( example mum want 1  dad want 2 sister want 2 and son want 2 how many spoons needed 7 )
Another way is to ask your child preschooler to say 24 then ask them  to say 34 and so on till you get to 94 do this for a week them the next week 26 36 46 so on until 96 the following week start with 22 after a few weeks they will be able to count to 99 without even thinking about it
Also going shopping is a great place to use math and you can teach your little one when you go with them this example the dress cost 20 euro pull out the money 10 euro a 5 and some change that ‘s add up to the cost and ask your child to help you with the money don’t worry they will get it and the more they  do the better they will get

“Math is an intellectual muscle building; it’s crucial for fully developing a child’s potential,” Mahoney says. “Those muscles can atrophy. If school is the only place you do math, then it becomes something you only do at school. Then you don’t even think about using it in real life.” So brush off those negative feelings about math and instill enthusiasm. Math will play a role in your child’s life forever.

I hope that you use these tips. They will help your child and the earlier you start the better and stronger you child will be come
